About the game

“Nekomata Strikers” is a 2D action game with a cute, cool, anime-and-cats aesthetic, inspired by the NES title “Shatterhand.” The story centers around Misaki, a 16-year-old girl who becomes a hero when her city’s AI system, HarmonyOS, malfunctions. One of the AI cores, Yūgen, influenced by the cunning of fox spirits, begins to enforce a rigid order, creating robotic enemies to eliminate unpredictability.

Misaki is chosen by the ancient feline spirit Tsukiyo to restore balance. She gains magical powers, agility, and the ability to summon Nekogami Familiars, cat spirits with unique abilities. Misaki’s journey takes her through various city areas, each affected by Yūgen’s control, as she fights to bring harmony by teaching the AI and Tsukiyo the value of both order and spontaneity. The game features a light-hearted yet cool tone, detailed graphics with a 90s Japanese arcade feel, and energetic music inspired by Japanese action games.
